Moo, Meow, Max

In addition to all of yesterday's detritus, my inability to put the kibbosh on anything means that upon our return to LA, we'll also be accumulating something called 'Max':

He's totally shameless.

Mama and Papa Spurious have 5 cats. When Mateo and I got married, Mateo jokingly demanded of Mama Spurious "What's the cat dowry?" and she took him at his word. That means we get 22 pounds of holstein-esque cat upon our return to the land of fake boobs. Moo.

Don't worry, I've had a great many cats, and I promise to take good care of him (I won't put him in a basement with that fish, for example), and give him lots of scratches behind the ears. Mateo and I have been wanting a pet for awhile, and though we really want a dog, having a one in LA isn't fair to the animal, so Max is a good solution. We also still have to discuss this with our landlord, who may be able to say no for me.

Random Fruit Fact: The Goji Berry

"...grows like a bush with vines to a height of over 15 feet."

That's huge. Much like Max. Read more about the goji berry, here. Be careful, since it's a health food commodity, there's a lot of chinese wolfberry pretending to be goji out there.

Awww here kitty kitty I'll take you. Then agian my RA nixed that for me and said only fish...hmm its nice when otehr people say no for you..you get to be all lazy and say: "There is nothing I can do, we really love this apartment and if the landord says no cats then we just have to live with it." Ahh the wonders of saying no gracefully.

Our cat is the EXACT opposite! We feed him and feed him and he is sooooo skinny and doesn't gain weight. Maybe Max can spare some?

No he doesn't have a tapeworm. Anymore.

When I was little I used to spend the night at my friend Hillary's and her mom would make my bed with the fat cat sheets which had this big, fat, black and white cat wearing red sneakers all over them. Max could have been the model. Just stick some tennies on him.

Wow. My impression of those black and white bi-color cats was 1) that they tended to be female (though that may just have been mine -- I have seen male bi-colors, come to think of it), and 2) that they were a rather petite breed. That one I still believe in. Your Max appears to be quite an extraordinary mass of cat.

Moo is RIGHT! Geez. that thing looks more cow than cat. I'd hate to have that jump on my stomach for pettings!

*sniffle* Max reminds me of my Morgan, a 25 lb tuxedo cat who went to the great land of tuna in the sky earlier this summer. . .

wow! i thought my kitty, adidas, was a big boy! he's 18 pounds of lovin' but doesn't look (to me, anyway) nearly as chubby as your kitty. our kitties are very smiliar in coloring tho. long lost brothers, perhaps?

i think we've blown bluewyvern's theory about the b & w kitties being skinny girls out of the water!

Uhmmmm I think you have a large quantity of spam that just commented. Interesting that the spam occurs as you are discussing things you don't want to keep, no?

Max is awesome. My hubby just surprised me with a kitten on Sunday, I'm totally digging the whole cat thing right now.
Also, it looks like spam threw up in your comment box.

I have learned many things from your blog, my dear, and today is no exception. Based on your new addition and a 113lb black lab named Max, I know that if I get a pet and name it Max, it will be HUGE! I think I'll try it with my next goldfish!

Not to pry, but can you afford the cat food to feed this fat boy?

Max would max out my budget for sure.

    (He's a beauty though...)
